We'll start with the obvious one, toy dinosaur figures. My boys have a box full of toy dinosaurs that get played with every day. They create T-Rex families and herds of Stegosaurus. I'm afraid the carnivores do sometimes chase the herbivores! Their dad still has some of the toy dinosaurs he played with when he was a boy. As kids get older they like to build collections of dinosaurs and acquire missing species.
Dinosaur jigsaw puzzles are another timeless and popular toy. We have lots of dinosaur puzzles of varying levels of difficulty. Our boys really enjoy sharing these with their parents, but often do them independently too. Choose puzzles with bright colors, lots of detail and realistic looking dinosaurs. Don't be tempted by very cheap jigsaws, if the pieces are too thin they get bent and don't stay together well, leading to frustration for all.
Dinosaur construction toys are another great option. Lego, Playmobil, K'Nex and Fisher Price Trio all have dinosaur-themed sets. Our boys will spend hours playing independently with these toys. They are great for developing coordination, problem solving and following instructions. Make sure you choose a construction toy for the appropriate age, it can be frustrating if the toy is too advanced, and boring if it's too easy. Craft activities are a lot of fun too. You can get some brilliant dinosaur-themed craft kits that kids will have lots of fun with. What kid doesn't enjoy ink stamps or some creative sticking? These gifts are great because they keep kids occupied for ages, and they can be used to make gifts to give to other people. Kids love making a present for their parents or grandparents.
There are some great electronic dinosaur toys that modern kids will love. You can choose from a great range of animatronic or robotic dinosaurs that make sounds, walk and talk. Some are suitable for preschoolers, other are much more advanced and aimed at much older kids. And dinosaur video game too, you can get some great prehistoric games for held-hand learning and gaming consoles.
